To be honest, I really didn't expect this picture to become a DD at all. Though I really like it, I wouldn't say that this is one of my best shots. I didn't pick it, *WorldsInWorld chose to request this as a DD and obviously people liked it. Of course there are lots of other similar pictures of that incredible place. So many people visit MyZeil and take pictures, so sooner or later it's clear, that there will be a similar picture. Nevertheless, mine still has a different angle and crop to the ones you linked here, so it's not an exact copy of your or any others picture. Yours are good, too and surely deserve more attention as well, yes.
I have to apologize, didn´t mean to make it sound like you where copying something. As you say there are lots of similar pictures. I was just wondering how a picture that is shot by so many ppl in similar quality is chosen as DD as my understanding of a DD is a picture that stands out of many others. Not to say that it is not an outstanding picute, it sertanly is, but as I sad shot by way to many others to say that its really standing out.
No worries, I know what you mean. I can't share your point concerning the outstanding picture though, at least not here on dA. If you really take a look around, there are dozen of shots from basically the same thing. For example forest pictures. Theoretically it's all the same subject (and not even the same forest), but they all look alike and some really do have quite outstanding shots, but the essence of the picture is always the same. That's just something that art does. People do copy stuff, totally unintended of course (well, most of the time), it's their interpretation of things. And let's be honest, it simply would be mad to reason about every picture, if it's already out there in the WWW or art related communities. Yes, in the best case of course you should create a picture, that is unique, outstanding and nothing you have seen before, that's really art at it's best then. But to achive that, it's really hard up to impossible nowadays.
Oh, how cool is that. So I brought back some memories, that's nice. Me and a friend just went there in February for the first time, even though we don't live too far away (60km south of Frankfurt). Actually we wanted to take some street photographies in the city, but it was so freezing cold that day(-15°C or so), that we gladly entered this place to warm up and then stayed for quite a while cause it had so much to see.
Glad you enjoy the picture. The whole shopping mall, where I took the picture, is an incredible building, I had a lot of fun there, it has so much to see. The architect did a fantastic job, I just captured some of that.
Don't know about Heidepark, never been there so far, but it has a good reputation, yes. The Alps are breathtaking and perfect for snowboarding of course. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay, whenever you get the chance to visit.
Yep, all is left is to wait and see what life brings to the table ^^ Keep up the excellent work! Gonna get myself a good camera soon, well I hope ^^ Waiting for something good from Nikon, the D800 and the D4 are out of my budget, so waiting for something like a D7100 ^^
True. The Nikon cameras are awesome. The new D800 is a beast, but pretty expensive, yes. I'm using a D90 which I really can recommend. It's a great companion and works very well in all kind of situations. With the right lense on it, it's just brilliant. The D7000 sure is great, too of course.
